347 initial timing
Hi guys, I need some help on an ignition problem...
What roughly should my initial timing be on a 347 ford with a .552/.569 296 dur total solid cam? I ran it in another engine long ago, but I dont remember exactly what it liked best. Does about 30 sound right? I lost the cam card and it is a custom grind from an Indy guy who has left the industry to retire. I have it now at about 25* initial with total of 45*. Also, should I bump up the distributor weights to allow for advance of 30 instead of now 20? The dist is an autolite(1965 stock) with a 6AL ign. Compression is 11-1. Idle vacuum is about 9-10psi. And yes, I need to run 100LL. Thanks for the help, and I hate it when my memory takes a vacation!!
