many ideas no real help.....
gentlemen..... i have a 95gt, bbk cold air, flowmaster pipes and a king cobra clutch otherwise she's stock.
i have 3.73 gears, bbk shorty headers, pbr 2piston calipers and drilled rotors that im about to put on. cars a daily driver but im a daily racer and cant live without my gas pedal hitting the floor lol.....my questions are many gt40p heads with 1.6 or 1.7 rollers? which of the 2 rollers and would the heads be good for my cam? as for the cam im thinking e or b 303 my bbk headers dont have the fitting to connect the egr line so i wanna delete the egr. also i hear long tubes are better but idk. aluminum driveshaft unless theres something better. 24lb injectors with an maf to suit. my 1st gear jumps out as soon as i let go the clutch im sure its my shift rod and synchros but anything i can use to stop that until i tear it out and replace the bad parts? tach went so i got one with a shift light im trying to set it but it feels like my motor is gonna blow at 4500rpm, i've been told 5.0s have a rev limiter that stops at 6250 so im trying to find out y my engine feels this, way any thoughts? i forgot i also have a set of 3" mac mufflers anyone know anything about them? are they better than the flowmasters i have on there now? and finally the ecu, i know the 93 ecu is best for any 5.G0 but is there any other ecu i can use that come close? i cant find that one anywhere. any thoughts or fact facts are greatly appreciated as my name states i hate imports and there are many here in the bx which are loud annoying lil toys i cant stand....i want these idiots here to know what a real motor looks, sounds and perfoms like

I wouldn't waste my time with GT40p unless they were free or like s 100 bucks.. TO me not worth the work for the extra 25-35 HP and a motorsport cam is also a waste of time and money. I would save for a set of TFS 51400004's with a TFS stage II cam or an anderson camshaft and pair that with a TFS Race intake mani. This is what I ran in my 5.0 and it works nicely. I got my TFS's New from summit for 900 bucks "wait for a sale" the cam for 180 and the intake for 500 something. and full bolt on's... car runs really good..
For the tranny, My Mach would pop outa 2nd on down shifts so I just had it rebuild with the TSB they have on that particular tranny at the dealerships cost after I got the car.. I dont know of any quick fixes for this.. I also run the Mac Pro Dumps 3" and they sound great.. throw them on! There could be a million reason why your motor feels like poo at 4500 + I would start with timing, wires, read your Plugs, check your sensors like the TPS voltage, Its hard to start listing fixes with such a broad statement.. Could be injectors, bad fuel pump.. the list can go on and on.. The 3.73's will rock! Get them in there, same with the headers.. but LT's will yield more power... BUt I would first spend my money on fixing your issue.. no use putting 3.73's in there just to get to 4500 quicker and then have it run like poo...

thanx for your help tim... its not that then engine runs like poo lmao i give my pedal a push, it hits 4500-5000 and i feel like im over exerting the engine and its gonna blow up. i gave the car a tune up not long ago and replaced my tps,maf,egr and exhaust. im very crazy when it comes to my car, it helps that i am a mechanic and have a guy that gets me for parts cheeeeap so i go nuts. either way i want to get that rev limiter out my way, my rev limiter should be my foot coming off the gas pedal. i'also replaced the fuel pump a yr ago the only thing i havent checked is my timing which i guess is next, gonna replace the chain but i dont want to do that as i've heard timing gears are much better.

Replacing your TPS does nothing if it isn't set to the correct voltage. Make sure it is around .9 - .98 volts. I have the same problem and think it is my fuel pump
.

Your motor sucks at 4500 because you still have the stock cam and it's DONE by that point.
I put my stock 5.0 on a dyno, and the torque curve peaks at 3k and 3500, then starts dropping. Peak power is at like 4200. That's not air restriction, that's cam profile. The stock cam is designed for the street, where 99% of the time you're under 3k.

rev dex... youre absolutely right, it peaks at 3500 and if i hold it down it'll reach 5k but thats it. so basically when i replace my heads and cam it'll be different? btw i dont stay out of 4th gear on local streets, im usually doin 60-70mph dont ask why and yes i know im nuts but speed makes me feel free so to each his own....cj, i know it has to be at the right v range and it is, its like the rev said, my cam profile is the problem. again thanx guys your input is appreciated.
no one has told me anything about egr delete... i also want to knoe about injectors and a good ecu other than the hard to find 93 ecu |

24lb injectors should be fine with what your doing, make sure you get a maff calibrated to the 24lb though.
you said you put in a new fuel pump in last year....did you upgrade it or did you just put in a stock replacement ? if i were you i would just put in a 255lph pump if you havent already. Im sure a 190lph pump would work just fine for you but the 255 will give you room to grow Ive heard nothing about the 93 computer being the best, where did that info come from, im not saying your wrong, ive just never heard that.....If your speaking of the 93 cobra computer, then id say no you do not want a cobra computer.... As for the EGR.....If you want to delete it then do so, I think you just have to get a block off plate. Im not sure if a check engine light will come on though. But i do know that it will show up when you run your codes but you can have the EGR tuned out of the computers program. You may lose a few miles per gallon when you delete the EGR, but it sounds like you dont care about that

yea it was a stock pump butthe 255 is what im getting, i wasnt going to do anything to this pony last year since i had an 89 with a 351c in but that got stolen while i was on vacation so now all i have is this one and my focus and lets face it the focus is ok but its still 4cyl shy of what i love to drive plus fwd? seriousl? i like to lose control while turning yet still be in total control.
the egr delete....i do and dont care about how many mpg i get, sacrifice to have a fast car i guess its kinda pain staking since gas here is 423 for 93 at its cheapest but i'll live i guess. as far as the 93 ecu goes i have a friend that said the spark curve in the 93 is a bit different and gives a bit more to the engine than other years but im not too sure about that. thats why im here asking around. a cobra ecu wouldnt with my engine i know that for sure. |
