Traction for lowered cars?

I took my car to the track and once before. I haven't launched once without spinning the tires. Mods as follows....

Eibach Sportline springs
Spec stage 3 clutch
Aluminum driveshaft
Headers with Flowmasters
03/04 Cobra wheels with Nitto DR's on the rear

I think that's about it. No matter how much I heat up the tires, they wouldn't hook up. The track has fresh concrete down and a lot of cars have broken their rearends this past month. What would be best, traction bars? Upper/lower control arms? Something else all together? What about the pinion angle with the springs I have???

Any advice appreciated. Btw, ran a best of 9.235 in the 1/8th. I was pretty consistant but so was my tire slippage.

P.S. Any brands recommended would be appreciated as well. I only wanna buy parts once.

2.2 I believe. It's a stick. Don't have a linelock yet but I was able to powerbrake it at least. I did my burnout, and a few times I even backed up and went for another. Tires would still break loose though. I've launched with the tires at about 25, 20, and 15 psi and no difference. Oh well....

well you cant expect alot with crappy tires. get some stock wheels with 26x8.5-15 ET drags, then it will hook fine. you cant expect to lower a car, throw shitty tires on, and then be like hey guys why doesnt it hook?

Well, it has a 5 lug conversion. The other wheels are 17's. So don't guess I can get really small wheels. I know they're not the best but they can't be that bad.

Anyway, I'm sure there's parts that could help out. I know just throwing on some ET's aren't gonna totally solve my problems. I just don't know which route is the best way to go or which parts are the best.

Well fitst of all no tire on the planet will hook without spinning on a 17 inch or larger rim. If you understand the principle of weight transfer and the fact that the sidewalls on those tires have no give what so ever.. The only way you will get it to hook up with drag radials is to run 15 inch rims.. Then the fun begins.. Plus you will start to break stuff if you are not set up for that type of shock to your drivetrain.. If your car is even mildly modded and you launch hard lots of times you will have problems sooner or later without the right drivetrain parts..

I have a Spec stage 3 clutch and aluminum driveshaft, solid rear axle with 5 lug conversion. Just need to upgrade tranny. So you're saying that even with the tires I have, upper and lowers, etc. just aren't gonna help one bit?!?!?

Not one bit.. You need some distance from rim to road to flex ang grip..

First problem like 89StangGT said, Nitto sucks. Second problem like Stangzilla said, 17 inch rims have no sidewall.

There is nothing you can do to make your current tire work. As mentioned, by another pair of rims and put a set of slicks on. Then you will hook. You will probably need a set of upper and lower control arms because the factory pieces will flex to all hell with any amount of traction. Cheap Summit control arms work.

Well, all I have at the moment are 17 inch wheels. I dunno where the axle came from. And the idiot I bought the car from has told me lie after lie about the car so I trust nothing he says. Oh well....

I can say that the Nitto's have helped me way better than the street tires I had on the car so they helped me improved some although they still slip some. I'm aware that a small sidewall won't help the tire give any but I'd think that at least some parts would still at least help me....at least SOME!!!! If nothing else, it'd be nice to be setting up my suspension to get ready for a new set of wheels and tires.

I'll get the uppers and lowers. Anything I should look at getting afterwards? Traction bars? Something else?
