Camber Correction maxed out

Since the day I bought my vert I noticed the front wheels are tipped in on the top-the driver side much more noticeable than the passenger. I took it in to a very reputable local alignment shop and they were able to adjust the passenger side, but driver side they said is maxed out. They drilled out a rivet which was in the middle on the passenger side, but already on the outside edge on the driver side. I asked if that meant something is bent or damaged and they said no-that is just the design. The driver side is still tipped in on the top a little. Any way to correct this or is it supposed to be tipped in slightly?

Sounds like its time for Caster/Chamber plates... do you have drop springs on the car???

no dropped springs. I actually had them install spring spacers to lift the front 5/8" since it was hangin too low compared to the rear. That combined with the camber issue made it sit like I had a 460 under the hood.

My brother's '91 has the same issue. Alignment shop told him the same thing. It's been like that since he bought the car in '95 and there is no sign that it has ever been wrecked. I think he tried spring spacers as well. The car steers and drives great and the negative camber is not that noticeable unless you look for it, but it does prematurely wear the inside tread of the tires.

The car drives and steers fine. I don't think it was ever wrecked. I see plenty of vettes and other cars with the rear wheels tipped in so I know it isn't just this car. Just bugs me every time I look at it. I trust the shop I took it to but was wondering if anybody knew of some aftermarket part the would correct it. Probably not worth the $$$ or effort to make it pretty.

How much of the front end is still factory? Could be a sagging spring, worn front control arms bushings, bad ball joints, or bad tie rods. They all play a part to some degree when it comes to alignment.

As above you may have to pull the front end apart. have a look to see if the rubber insulators are worn out in the cups and on the top of the springs and also the amount of travel on the shock absorbers... those are the main parts to look into for height adjusting and will determin if you can get the proper alignment before fiddling with the caster/camber settings...

inspect the lower control arm for any damage/warpage...

sometimes its just the course of a verts natural life where the chassis twists from not being ridgid enough it puts pressure on certain areas of the frame and that all travels to integral joints on the car... my vert is a little bent out of shape as well but after an overhaul on the front suspension and some CCplates its all looking like it should again

dont know if this is any help to you but i found it copied in the back of a mustang manual... took a picture of it so i wouldnt forget it...

camber = -0.50deg + 0.75deg
caster = +1.9 deg + 0.75deg

toe-in inches = -0.12 + 0.12inch
toe-in degrees = 0.25deg + 0.25deg

front wheel turning angle full turn
inside/outside = 20.00deg/19.84deg

I had the alignment shop inspect the front end-again I trust the work at this shop. The stock adjustment doesn't allow for much movement. I agree that these frames aren't that strong and can warp over time. I wasn't aware of CC plates and he must not have been either. They are not that expensive for a 90-93-Only $189 from American Muscle.

That's what I needed to know. Thanks again guys.
