How low can you go? (fox body weight)

What up guys?

A friend of mine has found a killer deal on a GT hatch (I'm not sure the year, but I want to say '89). Looks like we are going to end up buying it and making it a total track rat. We are kind of going over engine options and what not, but one thing we know for sure is that we will strip the car as much as possible.

I was just wondering, how low do you think we can get the weight down? I'm thinking we can get to 2500-2700 lbs, but my bud seems to think we can go lower...

Your thoughts on this please!

items that have help me out and saved alot of weight were glass hood, tubular k, al. driveshaft, ac delete, all emissions delete, and most of the interior, also picked out all the insulation under rear carpet and rear seats. if money is there al. radiator and heads help alot. also somelight weight wheels like welds. should get you pretty close.

If we do this we are going all the way. There will be NOTHING inside the car, but the required NHRA safety junk and two apple crates to sit on (not really, but you get the idea)

What do you weigh in at with what you have done?

You can get it in the 2600 range with driver but it will require alot of work and lexan windows. There is alot of weight that can be removed from a stock Mustang.

I'm the buddy Rk is talking about. I cant remeber the year of the fox, but the motor has been replaced with a 351W, but i don't know if i should build that motor or go with a 5.0? suggestions please? I can get the car for 500 and the guy says the motor runs strong.
I'm going to srip everything off that i possibly can. Can you have a lexan winshield? My goal is to get in the nines so any suggestions will be greatly aprreciated, cause ill be honest i have no idea what combos are good or what motor to go with but i want to keep my price down as low as possible, but i know it will cost some good money.

Build the 351 if you want a better/faster car...Obviously more cubes is better.
