brake booster swap???

Do I need to swap the V8 brake booster to my 4 cyl car if I am doing an engine/brake swap. I notice the booster on the V8 is much larger than the one on the 4 cyl

Thanks,

Robert

lets see v8 in a 4 cyl. car...it shouldnt matter but if one is larger, then i would recommend you swap it too to be on the safe side

It doesn't matter. I wouldn't do it if I was making the swap, but that's just me. Hell, I'm lible to just yank it all out and throw in a manual master cylinder

Thanks was just skereeeed

I was concerned due to different part numbers on the booster and master cyl.

I have suggested that we have a seperate section for brakes, and a seperate section for engine swaps. I know I have a lot of questions, and have learned a few things by doing the v8 into a 4 cyl car swap.

I think I have spent as much time online as I have under the car

Thanks

The boosters are easy enough to get out so why not swap it right away?

What exactly are you doing? just an engine swap or the brakes also? If you are just doing an engine swap then there is no need for a swap but you have a different amount of weight to be stopping with most likely different size brakes so thats going to change if that is what you are doing. If you are swapping the whole brake system out somehow then definately swap the master cylinder.

I am swaping every freaking thing, even the carpet :-)

I have swapped the engine, trans, rear end, front and rear suspension, fuel lines, front spindels, rotors, calipers, dash, seats, carpet, computer, wiring, headliner, interior.

I bought a 1990 LX on e-bay in CT and found out the ass was rusted beyond repair. I mean the bumper was barely on the car.

I then bought a 1989 Mustang in Ky with no engine or Trans, it was a 4 cyl car, and rust free, but has a dented fender.

This has been quite an experience:

Just got a call from my son, and they are towing away the 90 car. I don't care for my neighbor, so I parked it out front, and painted hearts and crap on it with different colors of spray paint, and the doors are off of it. :-)

anytime you are swapping a bigger engine into a car that came with a smaller engine, you should swap out all of the braking system. Without the correct master cylinder for those brakes, I doubt it will work properly. It might, I'm not too sure on those swaps, but I would definately swap it out, just to be safe. If it is a different part for that system, then there is a reason for that. A larger weight load means the brakes are going to work their ass off to stop a heavier load then what they are meant for so since you have the master cylinder, swap it out.
