Trick Flow track heat intake on AFR 185's

I sat the intake on the motor yesterday and noticed that the intake ports don't match up too well.... Ive been told this is a really good intake, but I'm pretty sure mismatched ports is not a good idea to just leave it alone..
What should I go about doing with this?

port match with a dremel. lay an intake manifold gasket on the head and intake manifold, trace the opening with a sharpie, then grind each side out until its flush with the gasket. sadly, this means removing the head from the engine, which might be to much work for the whole thing. you could always just open up the intake manifold so that it matches the heads better. just my .02, wait for some more opinions.

do you have the intake gaskets inplace when you tested it ? if its off by a little bit, dont worry, when you tighten the bolts it should just about line up.

I have AFR 185 heads and trick flow R intake and that intake is recomended to be used with trick flow heads for port alignment. but mine lined up almost perfect once i trimed the gaskets

Aw, see I didn't tighten it down, the gaskets were In place but I just sat it on and put a few bolts to see how it would line up.... Trickflow R should be similar to mine right? Bottom anyway? Thnx for the input guys

I'm pretty sure that is the one i have..

She finally runs good...it took me a long time to get a good tune on it, but thanks to Adam @ Pops Racing its good now.

As soon as i got a good tune loaded my fuel pump gave up..its been on jack stands for about 3 weeks...i will be ordering the new pump soon..

No trips to the track yet, but i will soon...

I think i would have more power if i had gotten the 165's, but my plan to add a charger or stroke made me get the 185's...they are a little big for my current combo, but should be perfect when its all said and done.

What kind of power did it make? Did you have any ptv clearance issues?

185's are not too big. Even if you're still only 302 cubes.

Yeah, different people go either way...i do recall seeing a MMFF article about heads and the motor they used was almost identical to mine..the 165's put down around 15hp more at peak than the 185's did...who knows..i know i wouldn't want the 165's when i go 347 or SC

No PTV issues..i thought i was going to have to notch my pistons, but the cam we selected prevented me from having too without costing much power.
