I would at least put a 2800rpm converter and a shift kit if you want that auto to feel like it has any balls.. Hmm I never herd a sound clip of a cam what do they sound like? LOL.. Many factors decide how a Mustang sounds not just the cam...

I am very fond of the Trickflow Stage 1 Cam. It can be used in a stock engine. It will give a slight lope at idle. The lift will be .499/.510. Not sure of the duration. I have one in my race car w/3000 stall. Revs fantastic and leaves the line in a hurry. The cam can also be used with other heads too. I have built a couple twisted wedge head engines with stage 1 cams. My race car has ported and polished 289 heads and they work great with the cam. Good luck with your choice and let us know how it works out for you.

Also the heads I used were factory adjustable with studs and guideplates but I had some roller rockers already that would work with them. Heres a pic of mine before they went on, exhaust ported and oversize steel valves. : ![]()

A famous philosopher once said, "when in doubt, always use the smaller cam, the customer probably won't complain about more low end torque". Ok, maybe it wasn't a famous philosopher, maybe I just read that somehere yesterday.
