Cooling Question

I am swaping heads on my car. I have a big griffin radiator. My car never runs warm, usually between the first two notches on the stock gauge. I run a 192 deg. thermostat, and the runs so cool when I pulled the heads off I was rewarded with about 1mm of crud on my pistions that I had to clean off. How can I get my caar to run hotter? If the thermostat is in and it still runs cool I guess I need a restrictor for the water pump? can someone please help?

Doesn't sound like your thermostat is working right. It should close once the temp drops to let the engine stay warm. It sounds like it is stuck open and with the big radiator it is running too cold.

Yeah I agree. You can have the biggest radiator on the planet. The thermostat is there to keep the coolant in the block at approx the temp of whatever thermostat you have in it.. If it is staying open all your motor is getting is the cooled down coolant from that big radiator..
