Old vs new
Ok this guy at work just bought a new 2012 gt 5.0 bone stock 412hp, I have a 1986 ford mustang gt with a 351w bored .30 over dart heads, Holley carb it's got about 400hp the guy I bought it off of is a HUGE mustang nut he has 8 second twin turbo stangs, he built this motor and he ran 11.20s with a 100 shot, it's funny cause this car has all old school parts and it screams, anyways this guy at work is talking shit wanting to run me, I know he weighs more than me an will prolly hook better out the hole, I would only race him rolling, how will my car do and how much money should I bet him lol! Thanks

Edit: Somehow skipped the part where it said it runs 11's. Sorry.

IIRC, the new mustangs can run high 12's with slicks at the track. as good as that may be, i would assume he has the stock factory tires on it, which wont provide that good of traction from a dig.
did the 351w put down 400 horse WITH or WITHOUT nitrous? cause thatll definitely change my opinion. if you put down 400 horse N/A, id say you should have him. but if it needed nitrous to do it, then i would say no. that is, of course, assuming the car doesnt have nitrous hooked up to it anymore. but dont take my word for it, wait for a few more guys to chime in...

If your 86 ran 11.20 with a 100 shot, it's got to run 12 flat or better on motor. You should easily be able to out run the 2012 if its all stock, and if you can get traction!

Thanks for the input, my car has around 400hp n/a, but that's the thing the car doesn't hook good out of the hole it spins 1st 2nd and a bit in third which is a blast to drive, guy I got it from didnt hook up on slicks at the track spraying and still ran that good, car is a beast people in town stop me and know about the car which is cool, I won't be doing any suspension/rear end work till winter, it would be nice to eat him up tho so he stops his mouth and I can say u just got beat by an old fox I spent $6,500 on. We will have to see they do look pretty fast but I'll stick to the old school hp for now! These new cars don't make the sound these old 5.0,5.8's do imo thanks guys!!

Order up a set of Micky Thompson Drag Radials for the rear. It will be the best $400 you've ever spent. No sense having all that power if you can't put it to the ground!

It really has a lot to do with who is the better driver! Can't forget that. This guy could have a new 5.0 with 400 and some horse, but if he can't drive it worth shit, then he will definitely lose! No doubt. I would say the race would be in your favor though. He's running stock tires that just will not catch. Go race him and shut him up!
