2.3 to 302 swap

I just want to say thanks to everyone in advance for their help. I have a 1992 fox thats a 4 banger auto on its last leg. now normally i would just go ahead and replace it but ive been doing some looking around and the motor alone is going for about 400. I recently came across a 72 302 with a c4 for 500 its complete and still running in the truck, which in my parts is cheap. I was told by a few good mechanics that i wouldn't need anything for the swap such as radiator, fuel pump, suspension, etc. but i forgot to ask if i would need to get new mounts for the motor/tranny. If their is anything else that i would need please tell me, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Im guessing that your going to use a carb ? if so your going to have to change your fuel pump, because fuel injection runs at a higher pressure.

i would have a look at the bolt mount locations and try to make a comparison with the trucks block. as above you will need a new fuel pump preferably get one matched similarly to what is already in the truck.

you may need to replace the front springs as i think they are a different rate with 2.3 to 5.0 but dont quote me on that lol

sorry it took so long for me to post again, yes it is carbed, but the carb doesnt come with it i was thinking on going with a electric fuel pump, how much flow would you all think it would need? and i heard that you can use stock 4 banger suspension and that its preferred but mine has seen better days so i will be getting some new ones, what do you recomind thats kinda cheep but good? and i was told that i would have to modify my driveshaft is this true?

The driveshaft for the 7.5 rearend is slightly longer than the one for the 8.8 found in the V8 versions of the 79-93 mustangs; so you'll need to change the shaft when you change out the rear. You can live with the 7.5 for awhile but I wouldn't beat the hell out of it.

Good luck!

hold out for a better motor, get one out of a 87-92 mustang since they are h.o. engines and come with forged pistons.

the 4 banger springs will work fine.

your gona need new motor mounts, engine harness and computer.
go with fuel injection or your gona regret it, buy a gt50 intake upper and lower from a ford explorer either out of the junk yards or off the internet and you can pick up a stock throttle body and maf and injectors off classified forums for cheap and a cold air kit is less than 100$ i would upgrade the fuel pump just becuase

and like said before te 7.5 is junk and your trans wont probly last long either

I got two fuel injected 302s sitting (i just need a computer), but i cant afford to get the machine work and rebuild kit for it cause im gonna have to buy a tranny, fuel pump or whatever. i would wait and build on it a little at a time but my 4 banger motor and tranny are going out and i already priced the parts and its gonna cost about 300 to fix
