seat leans to the right
hey all. I have 67 mustang that I am putting a set of 90 mustang seats in. my problem is that the drivers side seat that I bought leans to the right. as I understand it this is a fairly common problem. anybody know if there is a fix?

man thanks a ton for that timely link. the pictures and write up were very clear and easy to understand. it literally took me an hour and a half and I no longer lean to the right. if you wrote that up excellent job and if not thanks again for the link.
to anyone out there who finds this thread when trying to fix their seats I would like to add a little tip I learned by accident. I was trying to straighten my seats myself before I decided to ask what the correct way to fix this was and so I had torqued the seat quite a bit while it was still bolted in the car and had the frame pretty well straightened out by the time I found this info. so all I had to do was pull the top of the seat out. (my seat is in a 67 and the seat rails bolt under the car so it was easier just to take the top of the seat off in the car) then I pulled the upholstery and foam off like the link shows. that was probably the hardest part. then just vice gripped the frame where the spot welds had obviously broken and run some welds with a wire feed welder. be aware the metal is very thin I burned a hole in the sheet metal with my first spot weld so I had to turn the heat all the way down to 1 and the wire speed up to 4 on my craftsman 110v wire feed. (I am not a great welder obviously). anyway then I put a bunch of spot welds all around the cross brace to fix this problem and reinforce other areas. the rest was a piece of cake. once again thanks for the help. |
