smelling gas

soo I jus bought a chilton manual and it sucks. Diagrams only and it dsnt show where the tb or intake is in anything. I've found 2 vacuum lines that don't go anywhere. One is from the back of the intake and directs toward the egr. I smell eye peeling gas being burned. I know the egr has some issues which is why it idles as tho I have a cam. I have after market headers exhaust and deleted the air pump. Help?

Whenever you have excessive fuel being dumped, it will make the idle more choppy. I can take my car from a smooth stock-like idle, to a choppy idle with just tuning the amount of fuel being added at idle. I would start with checking your fuel pressure and then if everything looks ok, checking for codes next. Do you still have stock injectors and a stock MAF?

if you got rid of the pump did you block off the holes on the headers? that may be one reason why you can smell the gas too??
have a quick check under the rear of the manifold there is a small vaccume tree feel around and make sure there are pipes connected to all the little spouts underneath...

these may help if you can follow the diagrams :

I plugged everything off yea. And the codes seem ok. It has stock maf and I think injectors. But I noticed the injectors are yellow tops. Aren't those 24 pound? If so maybe it's too much for stock intake and such.

Are you smelling the gas though the exhaust or is it coming from the engine bay?

Yellow tops are 19# just like the factory orange ones that came on these cars.

I hvnt changed my fuel filter since the last fuel injecto cleaner. Also I have been using 90 octne fuel. Could any of these contribute to the problem?

The 90 octane isn't going to do that. The fuel injector cleaner may be the culprit though. It may have removed some deposits on the fuel line or injector itself and moved them into the moving parts of the injector and caused it to stick open. I would pull the plugs one by one and see if any look wet with gas or fouled out. If you find some like that, then the injector for that cylinder is probably gummed up.

Id clean your maf sensor.. if its dirty or has oil on the sensors from a oiled air fliter like a K&N it can cause it to run rich. If you deleted the charcole canister and left the vent line hanging it will send fumes out too.

CHeck your fuel press as well.
If you deleted the air pump did you cap off the line going to the h pipe?

I capped off the lins from the ir pump. I did oil the filter not too long go so I'll check the maf nd replace the fuel filter. Then hen I get extra time I'll pull out fuel injectors. I also need a fuel pressure gauge..shoulda kept the one off my t/a :/
