DSS 331 Stroker HP
Hello everyone I was needing your input on how much horsepower you think this setup would have on this engine. The engine is a pro billet 331 stroker from Dss racing, the engine has comp cams and the lift is .565/.574 232/240 the block also has 205 cc AFR heads, 1450 CAMSHAFT, push rods: 4130 .80", CAMSHAFT: Ford racing, TIMING CHAIN: Pro gear 3 position double roller 430HDSTK LIFTERS, PUSHRODS: 4130 .80, Dss Aluminum Roller Rockers. Also the engine was balanced and blue printed. If you need any more information just let me know, and I will try my best to answer them.
Thanks for all replies

I'd say 475+ flywheel isn't out of the question.

What rpm are you taking it and what compression? Assuming 9.0 and 6250...
A 331 with AFR 205's, 330-370 RWHP. Take it higher and more power.

Take the cubes and go for the 347. And what is a 1450 camshaft?

To the ground? Ask what compression he is at and we'll assume you're spinning it to 7,000...probably 380 to the tire.

Intake: Holley System Max
Compression: 10:9:1 Exahust: Flow master super 44's 2 1/2 inch Camshaft: Comp cams .565/.574 Also the engine has the following. Bbk shorty headers, 70 mm Throttle body, 24 ft/lb injectors, 4:30 gears, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 208/160 valves and a zex nitorous kit that is 75-125 dry shot that is not hooked up yet. Also on the injectors do you think that we should get a bigger set of injectors, or just leave them the same? He is hoping to get 400 hp to the ground on motor do you all think it is possible with this current setup? Also if you all have any more questions be sure to ask. |

He can not have long tube headers, because of the lakewood bell housing it will not clear it. He is wanting to have 400 hp to the rear wheels just on motor, he said that he would try to get some bigger injectors he is thinking about 36 ft/lb is that too much or just about right? Also what brand would you be looking at for the injectors and would you recommoned getting a bigger throttle body? If so what size would you be running? Thanks for the help.

I've got 342/364 to the wheels out of my most recent dyno tune, with a similar 331 stroker set up.. Like everyone else has said, run a bigger throttle body and some longtubes.. there are longtubes that fit around the lakewood bell housing. Kooks for instance are high in price, but some of the best headers you can buy, and will fit your application.

Is there any other brands that you know of that has long tube headers that would work on the lakewood bell housing? Also would it be alright to run a 75 mm throttle body or should he go with a 80 mm throttle body? Also what would be better on the injectors, 30 ft/lb or 36 ft/lb and what brand would you all recommoned? I think he is wanting to run the zex nitrous kit so I figured that I would say the 36 ft/lb injectors with the 80 mm tb should be good enough? Also if he changes injectors, throttle body, and long tube headers how close would he be to 400 rwhp or could he even reach this on motor? Thanks for all the help.
