Noob intro

Hello all, I am new to this site and thought i would share my new project. It is a '86 Mustang GT, i picked it up last thursday and have been poking and proding every since. I am a mustang fanactic and diehard Ford guy sit it was natural that i got a mustang.

I was torn between a sixties mustang or a foxbody and this one just kinda fell into my lap. It is a previous Texas car that was supposidly used as a drag car at one point. The owner put the origional 5.0 back in and gave it to his son who after beating the snot out of it sold it to the gentlemen i bought it from.... fewwww...

It has a bright blue shadetree paintjob that i will attempt to get to this winter, for now i wanna get it running. The interior was complete re-apolstered with a blue and gray burlap like fabric, I actually like it, let me know what you think??? Below is a pic of the indented "MUSTANG GT" in the headliner, it also has indented lines in the door panels and music symbols in the hatch.

It is motor and transless at the moment but i found a couple guys with a 5.0 and t-5. All said and done i'll only pay $400 for motor and trans in running condition (according to them). It has a 3in dual exhaust with H pipe, flowmasters, and chrome tips.

I have started to clean the engine bay to prep for paint and found a chewed up speedo cable so i figure i'll change that out while there's plenty 'o room. Also going to check the rack and pinion and anything else i can think of before the motor goes in.

Anyway i will add pics when i find a good url server for my pics cuz the "manage attachments" option will not work for me. Let me know what ya think and any questions and opinions will be appreciated. You can also see a few pics in my album.

I learned to drive stick on my brother-in-laws red '86 stang like that years ago. It'll always have a special place in my heart. The interior does look a bit strange, but keep us posted as the work starts.

It definitely has some potential. I think the interior looks pretty good. Seems to go with the rest of the car well.

That dog appears to be an excellent companion for this project. I dig the interior and the rest looks very usable. Nice score.

Yea he's always been a good companion, I've had him since i was 13 so he's been through a few. lol

Yea i figured it was you bro. The complete setup i've pieced together is complete 86 GT shell, 3" exhaust with H pipe and duel flowmasters. Motor is out of a 88 town car and i'll have the gt40 upper and lower, e7 heads, H.O. TB, H.O. cam, BBk intake, and all the clutch parts by this weekend. Thanks again brother!

I painted most of the firewall today and should be done with the engine compartment tomorrow, then begins the engine tare down. Will upload more pics when paint dries and all the masking is off.
