no gas gauge please help me

no gas gauge please help me


i have an 87 convert the gas gauge doesnt work how can i fix this? also i have a 91 ranger with the same prob ne help i would appreciate thanks

Probably need a gas level sending unit.

Yeah, it is probably your sending unit. Pull your fuel pump outa the tank and check the float and all the wiring for lose wires. If you have a voltmeter, you can check to see if you have any change in resistance while you lift and lower the float. Or just replace it and pray that it is the problem.

I had the same problem with my 87 bronco II it ended up beiging the float on the sending unit wasnt floating anymore the solder on it began to leak and the float just sank to the bottom of the tank and never read any gas level

Don't pull your fuel pump out, the sending unit is in the middle of the tank and separate from the fuel pump. Just buy a new one, they're not expensive. it could be a wiring issue to, but most likely the sending unit.

Yeah I was thinking of your ranger. It, the ranger, should have a fuel pump/sending unit. The sending unit will run around 40-45 bucks.
