How to test inst. cluster temp guage

I have the cluster pulled and the temp and volt meter portion pulled out of it and was wondering how to test the temp guage? Everything was making good contact but when I plug it in the guage goes all the way down... Any idea's? Can I just buy the guage from ford or would I have to replace the whole cluster?

I think you would have to buy a whole cluster. My oil pressure gauge doesn't work so I am in the same boat. I see them on ebay all the time, a little pricey but they are there.

Yea but the cluster is made where just a certain part of it can be replaced.. How do you test them?
