One thing I know from experience, the 98 through 02 Trans Ams, 6-speeds with a 4:10 gear is a "out of the box" terrifying machine. My girlfriends brother has one and I have drove it many times, I am not comparing it to a Terminator Cobra or a ZO-6, but from a 40 roll to 160, it is a beast. But, that being said, they are NOT that great on a road course or a closed track type of race. On a long highway run, you better bring something.. That LS1 doesn't really start breathing until around 4k and at a about 120 or so and by then most cars will not keep pulling like your in 2nd gear even though your in 4th aprroaching 130/40/50. I will testsify to that anyday, much respect to the (LS1) M-6 F-Bodies.

The ls1's are terrifying in the top end, and hard to keep up with... but off the jump alot of mustangs, are faster, as far as 06/06 gt, mach 1, 2001+ cobras, i dont believe the lightning is tho... but if you be more specific as in comparing what year mustang to what car from chevy and what year of its make, then I wont mind finding out the specs.

LS1 cars destroy Mustangs. I still prefer a Mustang though.

Come again? They look nothing like a Ford head. Are you sure we are talking about the same head?

Like said above, it would be better if you compared it to a certain year and what type of mustang. I would take any 5.0liter over an lt1. If I didn't like mustangs as much as I do, I would take an ls1 over a PI 2v 4.6. But I would take any PI 4v over the ls1's. But the ls1 is a really awesome engine though. You can get quite a lot of power out of them with only bolt on parts.

I agree Chevy is so much cheaper to build.

The LSX injector spacing is the same and exhaust ports are very close.

Spacing maybe but as far as port design and everything else they are no where near. GM did a good job with the LS1 head design.

I'll still take my Mustangs over the F-bodies though.

I was born and raised a Ford man but...............My g-friend has a 1978 Monte Carlo.I had to put my paws under its skirt and tweak things. Now she's runnin 450hp with 400 ft lbs of torque. My first crack at building a Crappy(chevy).383ci stroker motor(hand built except for the boring and machining work ),t-400,electric locker out back and enuff go to almost keep up with my 345hp 87 gt pony. That scares me b/c her car is twice the wieght of mine! Mines still faster naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! Chevy is cheap to build though about 4000 bucks into it motor ,rims, tires ,cowl hood, and killer stereo.I'm up to 5g's on mine and got probably 9 more to go before i even think of stoppin for a while!.

Ford chevy ford chevy ford chevy ford ford chevy ford chevy ford chevy ford chevy ford ford ford chevy 350 351 350 351 350 351 350 351 351. I keep hearing the same damn thing everyday.

Stroked, bored .40 over e303 cam, keith black pistons low compression, turbcharger about 11 -15psi, BBK exhaust system or flowmasters, carb scoop to grab some air, preloaded rear end, GT40X heads with ONLY port job done... will Blow the fuck out of both 351 and 350 so ford equals each other out and still blows away the chevys. Cobalts are way out of the question. GTO both old and new and fairly good to race but still can win. Nova... well a dude in my town and a bored out 350 and so forth and I still stomped some ass so the hell with chevys and shit ARGH!!!!.

Not even to mention adding twin turbos or a big ass supercharger. So chevy's please, find GM and leave us the hell alone because we got you beat
