AOD adjustment

I have a 90' 5.0 LX with AOD. Is there a linkage adjustment like the old carbed Fords had to make the passing gear engage or down shift happen quicker? I literally have to put the pedal all the way to the floor to get it to downshift when passing. Thanks, Steve.

Its called called the TV cable or throttle value cable.Take it to a trans shop, they have a special tool to adjust it.Have the shop adjust it,it wont cost much at all.If you do it yourself, theres a very big chance of you hurting your aod badly.

Hey thanks for the help and the warning. I'll leave it up to the pros to adjust it.

That was one of my compaints about the AOD. Curious to see if an adjustment makes much of a difference, not that it matters now after a T5 swap. Keep us posted.

Just watched a You Tube video on AOD adjustments and called a local tranny shop for advice and I did it and much, much better. I guess over the years the cable to the tranny streaches ever so little and it just needs a little fixing and it's back where it probably was from the factory. I only did about 1/8" to 1/4" and it seems fine.

I just had my AOD rebuilt and when i got it back,it would shift into overdrive way to late.So i took it back and they adjusted and it made a world of difference.

I could probably adjust it a little more but I think for everyday driving this is where it needs to be. I don't think shifting too easliy into a lower gear would help the gas milage any...
How many miles does yours have?

Nice looking Stang for sure. I just bought mine and it needs paint but all kinds of new stuff. Just the AC needs charged and a new speddo cable but so far that's it. It has 107K and seems to have been really taken care of.

Thanks alot.Ive had mine for about a year now.I paid $3300 and have put over $8000 into it(and still going).I think ive replaced everything you can think of,except the engine.Thankfully,it has no rust and the paint is in great shape. My a/c also needs recharging.lol.

Sounds nice. I usualy start down the after market route as I've had 2 other Fox body's, a 87' and a 89'. But I think with this one being in such good shape and all original I'm going to keep it that way other then replacing what it needs as it needs it. About the only possible thing maybe is 3.73's some day and cold air intake but I think will stay just a nice cruiser which will actually help keep the value up on it as these are getting rare...
