roller cam in non roller block HELP!


i have a 94 mustang gt i bought a 84 motor for it but right now im running a little low on cash and the motor in my car is knocking........i need to know if i can use a roller cam in a non roller block?

if anyone has some advise please help me with this!

You can but you have to get retrofit roller lifters because the older 5.0's lifter bosses are not as tall as the 85 up roller 5.0's and you would probably have to get different length pushrods as well

They are kind of price though, I would recommend to call around to junkyards and get a 5.0 out of an explorer this way you get gt40 heads and gt40 style intake, and then sell the 84 5.0. The Explorer 5.0's can be had relatively cheap and have close to 100 more hp than the 84 5.0 that you have.

could i just use the lifters and pushrods out of the motor i have now?

i think when i get some extra money ill go look for one at a junk yard and start a build but as of right now i just wanna get this engine running so ill have my car back lol

their is a part in the lifter vally that holds down the liffters on a roller block. you would have to get the 84 block machined for the bolt locations for that part. or you will have to get lifters with the links between them.

alright. ill prolly just have to wait it out until i get the money to get the motor built.. im thinking about just keeping the motor i have and rebuilding it since it is a roller motor..
better idea?
