5.0 dart block vs. 351


For the longest time I've been considering the 347 stroker option with a trick flow setup, but my concern is whether the stock block will hold in the long run. My goal has always been 400-450hp since newer cars are making this but the possibility is there it may go higher assuming I get it all setup right. That HP goal is simply a minimum.

Would it be better to get a Dart block or would using a 351 4 bolt block handle this power well enough?

At what HP would the 4 bolt 351 crack?

I can still get the 351 cheaper and since I haven't bought the H/C/I set yet I may simply match these parts for the 351 option unless I'll run into a similar problem with it as the stock 302.

351w never came with factory 4 bolt mains. 351w block is stronger than a 302, especially if you get a 74-75 or older block. But any how, a 302 roller block will easily handle 400-450 na horsepower!

I have a 351w stroked to a 408 for sale. Lower Compression, AFR 205 Heads, Mild Cam, built internals etc...looking for like $3500 obo.
