Ahh what to do?

sooo i go to drive my car today, start it up and it sounds like a fucking dumptruck

i look under the car and i see a hole in my mid-pipe the size of a quarter

so the question is...do i get the pipe replaced or erase my tips and just run mufflers with dumps that exit under the seat section?

what would be the pros and cons of erasing my exhaust tips compared to running dumps under the middle of car? Is the sound gonna be a big difference?

Thanks.

I think tips make the car looks way cleaner. The cons (IMO) are its too loud in the cab. i couldnt deal with that.

Well, you're not gonna be able to run mufflers that dump under the seat, there's no room for them there. If you run dumps, they'll exit in front of the axle.

Just go to your local muffler shop and get it repaired. Shouldn't be any more than $50, and I'd be surprised if it's that high.

I have dumps, but it's purely for functional reasons (way easier to just not route the axle-backs around the panhard bar support).

I think rear-exit sounds better, but that's subjective. I'm sure there's people here who think dumps are the way to go for the ultimate eargasm.

I will say if you go with dumps, mind how you point them. You'll have somewhere between a little bit and a hell of a lot more sound inside the cabin, and it's that angle that determines where along that spectrum you are.

Get it repaired. And I say keep the tailpipes. Dumps are sick and a lot louder but it gets old after a while. The only reason I have dumps is because my tailpipes were all rusted and they were the stock 2 1/4" wgich I think is too small and looks funny. I will soon be purchasing a complete exhaust so I just chopped them off and welded on some turndowns. I'll be getting BBK shorties, UPR offroad xpipe, and a mac catback with 3 1/2" tips or spintech prostreets. That is the perfect sounding exhaust for a 5.0 IMO.

You're not going to lose power with dumps. LIke rev said, it's all subjective. Some like them some dont. I had to cut my tail pipes off on my car and dump the mufflers because they rubbed my new rear tires, and I couldn't be happier with the sound. Wish I did it a long time ago. Technically you will gain a little power because tails are a restriction, but it won't be anything you'll really notice with your set-up unless you're running way too small a pipe.

Only get dumps if you don't like what's on the radio.

In all seriousness though, go with what you feel. Foxes have a great exhaust note and even if it's a little loud at least it's the good kind of loud.

With the GT I like the dumps but on the LX I'd have them exit at the rear for sure. As for the noise inside the car that also depends on what type of mufflers your using. Right now my GT has some cheap mufflers which aren't that loud so the noise inside the car isn't a problem but once I get some new mufflers I may be singing a different tune

I just realized you had a 95. I was thinking of a fox in my last post. With the 94-95's I wouldn't go with the dumps but that's just me.
