Question

5.0 question

I have a question in regards to one of my pulleys on my motor.
I have a 1988 5.0 Liter mustang.
What is the name of the pulley next to the pulley that goes into the motor.
If you are looking over the hood , it is on the bottom right side of the motor.
All the other pullies are turning ,ie alternator, a/c , power steering .
It it some type of smog pump ?

Bottom right under the ac pump is the power steering pump and right above the crank (which is the bottom most pulley) is the water pump pulley.

to make sure I understand you , it is the bottom most pulley.
What is happening is that pulley is not turning .
The pulley next to it is going into the motor , [ center of the motor ] , isn't that the water pump area ?
Sorry , I am a noob on this issue.

Ok looking at it from the front of the car. the really big pulley At the bottom is the crank shaft pulley the pulley directly above that is your water pump (your fan should be attached to that one) then moving to the right (drivers side) you have the AC pump and directly below that is the power steering pump. On the passenger side you have the alternator on top and the smog pump below that. Hope that helps

yes, got it now , it is the smog pump pulley that is not turning.
I needed the definition so that I can order the part.
I busted serp. belt & when i put the new one back on , we noticed all the pullies were turning except the smog pump pulley.
I guess what I need to do is order the entire pump & pulley , right ?
It makes a whinning noise when the car is cranked & motor running.

You may be able to delete it all together depending on your states emissions laws. Myself in California I cannot due to CARB laws here. But you on the other hand may not need one

Right side (passenger) left side (driver) Left and right is determined by sitting in drivers seat.
