393w Computer and Wiring Harness
Ok, so its a 75' 351w block, 3.850 crank, 30cc probe dish pistons, h beam rods, edelbrock rpm performer heads, super victor jr intake, holly 700 dp carb, msd box, blaster 2 coil, msd distributor, long tubes. dont know if any more specs are needed, but im going to move to fuel injection since i will be doing a turbo setup soon and dont want the headache of tuning a blow thru carb for daily driving
so question is, what exactly will i need to swap over to fuel injection? nothing fancy or unnecesary, just fuel control and whatever else is needed. i have no clue about anything with this so all info is helpful, thanks. |

That's nothing an EEC-IV with a tuner can't handle. I would look for a MAF donor car (89-93 fox) and take the computer, harness and TFI distributor. You'll need a larger MAF and TB so I wouldn't bother taking those off the car because you'll need to go aftermarket. You'll also need to have injector bosses welded into your super vic and you'll need an elbow to adapt it to a fox style TB. Then rails, injectors (60's would be my choice), regulator, pump and lines and some kind of intake piping. I run a super vic EFI on my 408 with a stock MAF computer (A9L) and a quarterhorse tuner. To tune it you'll need the software, the quarterhorse, a laptop, and a wideband. Fuel injection won't be cheap if you want to do it right.
You could also go with an entire aftermarket set-up like a fast XFI or something along those lines. |

Check out DIY Auto Tune. They sell the MegaSquirt stand alone system. It will be much cheaper than the stock set up with a Quarterhorse, and a better system. Then just pick the intake, injectors, etc. for your set up and start tuning!
Check it out.

I'm really surprised more guys dont go this route especially in your situation. Not only do you get an insanely tunable system, but you save on buying the system as well as the fact you get to eliminate the cost of purchasing a MAF. If building it or wiring it scares you, you can probably still be ahead on money if you purchase the fully assembled units with the plug and play harness. (Though I haven't confirmed the plug and play on MS3, I only have experience with MS1 and 2)
To much the only questions is MS2 or MS3. MS3 having the benefits of direct USB hookups and a faster processor that allows for sequential firing of the injectors vs batch firing. As soon as I finish my current project car and sell it I'll be getting back to a mustang. I miss my 91 so, so much. Its either going to be a fox, or possibly - if I find the absolutely right car - a 65 or 66 turned restomod. Might consider the right 94 or 95 Cobra too. Either way, its going to be a stroke 351w with a single turbo - banging gears the whole way. |
