The h-pipe/x-pipe evens out pressure in the two pipes cause dby the back pressure from the mufflers. If you don't have mufflers you don't need either. The long tube headers promote better exhaust scavenging. The long tubes allow the exhaust to flow at a higher velocity. This creates a vacuum. During valve overlap, that vacuum is pulling air into the combustion chamber thru the intake on the intake stroke. On a 300 hp car you won't see much difference in performance. If you say you do its just because you want to think you do because you spent the money to get it. They will give you a little more top end but you sacrifice lower end. The difference between eqaul legth headers and regular headers will not be very noticeable if noticeable at all on a 300 hp car.
