Fuse problem
I have dual electric fans and the fuse from the battery to the fans heats up and melts the plastic, but doesn't break the fuse. The fuse is a 20amp. Why does it melt it?

What are the fans rated at? What gauge wire are you running? Melted fuses are pretty common when the wiring for the circuit is too small and heats up. Heat creates resistance which creates more heat and so on until you end up with a melted weak point, sometimes the fuse. I've never seen an electric fan with a 20a fuse rating, especially a dual.

I don't know what they're rated at. But I bought the wiring from summit for the fans.

What do you suggest I do to help prevent this?

You need to do some digging and find out what the fans are rated at. What kind of fans are they? If you know that much, I'm sure some googling can tell you the turn on amperage and the constant draw amperage. IIRC taurus fans (just an example) can spike to over 80 amps when they first turn on and then draw something like 30-40A continuous. For those I would suggest quality 8ga wire and a solenoid to activate them.

That write up should give you all the basics you need to do it right. The fan you have draws 30-40 on start-up IIRC, so I would use at least 10ga wire for it. I have one of them and that's what I used with no issues. I've also since added a fan controller with a soft start feature, meaning when the thermostat in the controller hits the selected temp, the controller slowly starts and increases voltage until it reaches 60% power. Then keeps increasing the power as temps climb. I have an aluminum rad and the one in my car cools my 408 well enough that I have yet to see it go over that initial 60% power even when it sits and idles for a while in hot weather. It's nice because it's way quieter at 60% than full blast.
