having a problem with installing power steering pump

I have a good working pump that is not installing right with the autozone pulley puller/installer kit. The kit is a good kit but the threaded on the kit's bolt that screws into the pump mainshaft is being stripped. i think the pump is stripping the bolt and i neeed to know if there is another way to put it on

Might just be a cheap installer, I just installed one last week on mine, used a Snap-on puller/installer, if the threads on you pump are still good than try using another installer, if threads are stripped on your pump you can try retapping them or get another pump using a good installer to put the pulley back on.

That is the only way to proper install the pulley though, please don't bust out the hammer and try smacking it on.

i think you need to go to autozone or a major store and borrow there installer, i used that bolt that comes with the new pumps and it's crap.
