Your 87 wasn't converted to EFI and OBD-II, was it?

If it wasn't, I'm not aware of ANY handheld tuning device that would work on your car because you don't have the required On-Board Diagnostic port necessary to plug the handheld tuner into.

Tell us a little more about your car and we can help you find something for your application

There are no hand held's that fit a car that old. The Moates Quarterhorse would be your best bet. But you had better know something about EFI and how it works because it's not for everybody!

QuarterHorse for Fords [QH1] - $249.00 : Moates.Net

The Quarterhorse alone will do you no good without at least Binary Editor software as a minumum!

Anderson PMS is a handheld unit that will work on your car if you convert to MAF. But that's more money than I would spend, which is why I went with a QH too. In addition to binary editor I would get a wideband and EECAnalyzer.

Yep, for sure. You can't do it without a wideband! I recommond the Innovate LC-1 or their new MTX.

We've got a ready to run plug and play MegaSquirt package for $599:

MegaSquirt-II V3.57 plug and play for 1986-1993 5.0 Mustang DIYAutoTune.com

It's possible to push the price higher with add-ons, but they're not really needed if you're only running 8 psi.
