As long as your MAF is calibrated to your injectors the you don't NEED a tune. That being said a tune will get you the most out of your setup.

tune would be the best bang for the buck. Check out the bama tunes.

It's really tough in northern mi. as there are no speed shops around, not to mention the local dealer has little knowledge on the fox. bama tunes looks like the way to go, just to be able to switch your tune on the fly sweet. Any idea on what kind of hp my combo produce's ??????

Don't expect a huge gain in HP over what you can do yourself with fp and timing on a mild combo like yours. The real gains with a tune for you will be in part throttle and mileage, assuming the tune is done correctly.

True. Timing and fuel helped more than the chip. The chip just kinda smoothed everything out.

how much fp should I shoot for and shouldent my base timing be @like 12 deg.? also would i have to have the pistons fly cut to run 1.7s ? comp says that the actual lift is like .526 w/stock 1.6s

You gotta measure for pistons to valve clearence...can't tell ya on here. But shoot for 38-40 psi of fuel pressure and 14* of timing...with the spout out.
