192/ 180 degree thermostat?
Hi Guys,
My first post on this forum...here goes, I just recently put my 5.0 l LX on the road after being stored for close to three years. I have been starting her up and going round the block late at night during that time. I have been using a 180 degree thermostat for some time. I will have to do an emission test to get my plate sticker. The smell of exhaust fumes are quite strong when she idles. Can this be because of the motor running a little richer due to the colder thermostat. Gas consumption also a little on the high side. I have checked header bolts also have full cats . Will switching back to the factory 192 degree be a good idea. Also might help me pass my e/test. Thanks in advance. |

The hotter the motor the better chance you have on a E test. But honestly a 180 vs a 192 is not really that much difference. You gave more effect beating it up a little before the test.
