Tranny leaking after driveshaft snapped
Well I snapped the driveshaft when I slammed second, I stopped the car real quick and the only damage was 2 small dents in my mufflers, anyways I ordered a new aluminum driveshaft, changed the fluid, and drove it, well when I parked it i got under the car to check everything over and noticed the trans was leaking, so I cleaned it off real good and went for another drive to try and spot the leak, it appears it's coming from the top of the tranny between the shifter and bellhousing?? It doesn't leak much only a couple drips after each ride, but it only leaks when i drive it, it's a tremec trans that is fairly new I believe it's a 3350 it was installed a few years ago but car wasn't driven very much, what's weird is it didn't leak before I snapped the driveshaft? And like I said when it snapped i wasnt moving fast? What should I do? Pull the trans and do some investigation, it looks like there is a top plate that it may be leaking from? Any way to get to it through the center console with shifter removed? Thanks guys

Well I decided I'm gonna pull the trans and get a better visual of the problem and get it sealed up, my question is this, it's an 86 gt with the tremec as I have mentioned, I need a few pointers to get me Started in the right direction, what should I do first etc. Also when reinstalling the trans is there anything I need to know if someone could briefly run me through the most simple way to do this I would appreciate it, like I said it would just be easier IMO to pull it and see what the issue is. Thanks

One more thing, is it easier to pull the bell housing with the trans or keep the bell housing bolted up?

Keep the housing bolted up. you usually end up having to wiggle your way up to the very top bolts and only frustrate yourself more.

Well I put the stang in storage and just pulled it back out, it sat for a couple of days and didn't leak much, I need help diagnosing this issue, it only leaks when u drive it, it doesn't leak much but enough, it started leaking after I snapped the driveshaft, wasn't moving fast so I know nothing cracked, it looks like its either leaking between the shifter and bellhousing where that plate is or between where the trans meets the bellhousing, how many seals are in that area? Thanks for the help
