Finally got my boom...

Last night i rolled up next to an 03 mach 1. Very nice looking i think black 03 cobra wheels sounded real throaty... Down shifted into second crusing, punched it, 3rd, 4th. By now he was well behind me...throw into 5th boom!!!!! O boy back into 4th i go

5th gear is completly gone, now i have two neutrals

I guess these stock T5s arnt as strong as i expected or maybe the one i bought off my friend was beat up before i bought it...

00 would have a T45 with integral mod motor belhousing. Won't work for your 5.0.

5th gear was ment more for crusing, not putting alot of power through!

What kind of "built" is he talking about cuz at that price I would be a little weary that he is just tryna stick you with a trans, and make sure its a world class t5 and not a non-world class. A really built t5 should cost around 800-1000 easy

Sounds fishy. Call the guy and tell him the day you go to pick it up you'll be bringing a friend who is very familiar with transmissions so he can confirm that it's what he says it is. Tell him to tell you know what's really going on before he waste your time.

5 speed for life, even tho turbo/auto is awesome... But not for road racing

I dont know anything about trannys but how could i tell by looking at the tranny if he has done work to it or not?

He said he pulles the tranny out of a drag car that a customer couldnt afford, he builds race motors and trannys...

I am giving him my blown tranny as a core and my hurst shifter for his tranny and pro 5.0 shifter...

What im saying as that tranny was already paid for, and now he is sellin it, he didnt just build it for me when i called him, it has miles on it, its used and he is selling the motor and tranny...

I dont need nor want a "built 347" so i said hey how much will u let that tranny go for...he wants a core so he can rebuild mine and sell it to someone else

You'll need to pull the case apart and look at the synchros. Put a magnet on the synchros and see if it sticks. If it does, they aren't titanium and I would immediately not believe anything else out of the guys mouth. If I'm honest, I've never heard of titanium synchros for a T-5. That doesn't mean there's no such thing.. but titanium is stupid expensive. A guy isn't going to put that kind of money into a stock case T-5 if they did exist IMO.

No ones brought up the fact that he can just buy a tremec 3550?? Dude, get a 3550, it's similar to a tko500/600 but a little weaker. You can buy them used for a fair price and all you need is a different bellhousing. Plus, you won't have to worry about blowing transmissions all the time. You can get a bellhousing out of an 80-82 IIRC. They used the old junk S-ROD 4 speed trannies, but the bellhousings bolt right up. This is the route im going when I spray my car...

You guys arnt gonna believe what he told me to do, im curious..
He told me use 2 quarts atf (i always ur royal purple atf)

But then he said an one quart of 10w 30 motor oil !!

Said the oil gives the atf more viscousity and thats what he runa on all his race trans...

Ever heard of that? Why not use gear oil instead of motor oil? Idk

LOL at titanium synchros.... stay away from that cat - he's trying to sell you a line of b.s.

even if the gears were machined out of titanium, it would be waaaay expensive..... my b.s. meter is pegged.

synthetic atf (royal purple) is too slippery in the t5 - synchros don't do a good job when you use it - best thing is plain old dex/merc III. (same goes for your rear if you are running a t lock - use mineral oil)
