Mustang feels like a V-tech???

I just thought that this isnt normal, every time when the car is fairly cold, sometimes even when its warm. When I increase acceleration-Starts off normal then around 2300 or so very suddenly gets faster...If you ever rode in a honda v-tech, thats the same responce im getting from my car. Its pretty much stock as far as the ignition, intake and bottom end. I did have a problem with my distributor but i have changed the internals out cause it didnt run properly at all, it would bog at acceleration like it was running on 6 cylinders or something but I fixed that. But even from before that it always did what im talking about.

Now heres the kicker, im loosing oil somehow...Its not leaking it at all and there is no white smoke at all even on hard acceleration. The car now has 60k original miles guranteed. but every two/three weeks or so even if I dont drive it much, she is always low about half a quart.

Do you think one thing is related to the other? I was thinking that a valve would stick or cause blowby or something along those lines...I have replaced the pcv and the manifold filter/screen thinking it was leaking up through that but it seems to still loose the oil and still have the v-tech symtoms...I guess my next step would be to do a leak down test along with a compression test for the oil loosing part but how about the v-tech???

How sure are you that the engine internals are stock? If you have a cam in there that isn't matched well with your induction and exhaust, it can cause that effect.

Im pretty sure its stock but thats not a 100% I bought the car used...But I have had a b303 cam which is about the mildest you can go in another car and this one doesnt shake as much.

I could very well be the powerband, I havnt ridden in another stock mustang in a while. But it seems to do it more when its cold...

Yes i agree, great transportation but not a hot rod. Maybe he should just put the Vtech motor back in the Honda and it will run fine.

So this (vtech) you speak off does it call faster than other phones lol. Just messing with you its spelled (vtec). Mustangs did not have variable valve timing until the new 2005+ stangs.

Any computer codes? Have you checked the basics like plugs, voltage, compression, fuel pressure?

Not true. 3Vs have variable cam timing as well.

Your right, I didn't know that. Could just be the torque OP, even with (vtec) most hondas have very little torque.

Now, to the actual help...No, there are no codes and it seems to happen only when cold...I will try to back up the timing a bit from 12.5 and see if that helps a bit.

Seeing as the max torque is around 3500rpm...it makes sense. My car is the same way. You also make the most power when the engine is warm. When its cold, the mid-range will feel a lot stronger than the low end. Not sure what to say about your oil though. Is there oil on your transmission bell-housing? may be a slow rear main seal leak. Pretty common actually.

Stock cranking compression is 160-ish if I remember right. If you do happen to have a cam that could raise or lower that figure though.
