need help asap!! o2 sensor question!

I just need to know if my check engine light will come on if I disconnect my o2 sensors? And will it make any difference in performance. My check engine light came on because one of my o2 sensors fell out. Can I just take them out without any problem? Its a 91 ft auto thanks for any opinions!!

Yea it'll make a difference and throw a check engine light on. You'll get shitty gas mileage and poor idle quality and part throttle response. At WOT you won't notice much of a difference because the O2's are ignored then, but they're a very critical part of the EEC's function and need to be there if it's a street car and you care about mileage at the least. .

Yes I do totally. I drive 85 miles highway daily I need good gas mileage. But my o2 sensor bung is now stripped. Any ideas of how to keep it in there without having to replace the bung

Not anything that would make more sense than replacing the bung. That's an easy job and you can get o2 bungs at napa for like $2. Or even just get a nut that's the same thread size and pitch of the o2 sensor and weld that on. Just cut/drill the old one out and weld the new one on. Or even weld the old one up and drill a hole and weld a new one just behind or in front of the old one. You really don't want to do something sketchy that could leak because not only does an exhaust leak let exhaust out, it can let air in and screw up the o2 readings.
