about to do some replacing

Im about to replace my fuel sending unit and fuel pump ( they are 80 bucks a piece if bought seperately but oddly enough if you buy both its 100 wtf) my sender is bad bfuel pump is good but as i said it was only 20 bucks mote for both so i said wat the hell. Question is there anything i need to be aware of before i do this or will it be a bolt off bolt on deal???

Basically remove and replace. Follow the directions for the fuel pump exactly. Jack up the rear end (not a lot) and put it on jack stands. Then use a floor jack and a small piece of plywood to lower the tank onto some blocks. Removing the gas tank will be easier with two people. Oh and make sure you wear some safety glasses. A lot of dirt gets up on that tank.

Also, the job is way easier if you drain or run the tank to almost empty.

I did run it to a 1/4 tank or so i think like i said my gauge is shit first my guage was pinned to the full line n i payed a shop 180 bucks to plug a wire back up .... Again wtf and then it worked but only read half i calld them back n they looked at the car n said its gna be the sending unit then they informed me it was gna be 3 or 400 bucks to replace so naturally i told them to give me my car back cuz i can do that myself for 80 bucks the sad thing is he is a family friend n he was still tryin to rape me on the price

I don’t want to sound like a dick but where did you buy a sending unit and pump for a hundred dollars? And what size pump did you get? I am asking because I saw your other post and just realized how much you spent in this post.

Makes sense now. Some parts you can buy locally and some you shouldn’t. Are you familiar with Late Model Restoration, CJ Pony Parts, and National Parts Depot? If not add them to your favorites.

FYI.......it's possible that your sending unit is not the problem. 1990-1993 mustangs have a small circuit board that plugs into the back side of your gauge cluster. Ford calls it a voltage reg for your gauges. There about 75 bucks at latemodelresto.com that's what went bad on mine. My gauge always Read empty until I replaced it

My gas gauge reads somewhat it used to be pinned to full but i took it to a shop n they fixed it ( loose wire) then i took it back after i found out it read half full on a full tank n they said ( after dropping my tank an assesing all options) that it was my sending unit but they ordered the wrong part so i picked it up n never took it back cuz they wanted 400 to change it n the guy at autozone told me that i could do it myself for 80 bucks
