MSD replacement coil causing whining noise?

Hey Guys,
I just installed a new coil in my 5.0l LX . A MSD TFI coil which is a replacement for the stock coil. It puts out 148,000 volts...not sure what stock puts out though. Starting her up right after the install there is a high whining, ticking kind of sound. I went around the block and she pulls really nice, throttle response is good, idles good as well but the sound is quite evident. Has anybody experienced this or know why it is doing this. I had the same experience with a new Accel coil awhile back and returned it thinking it was defective. Any thoughts ....thanks.

If by chance your radio is on during the ride, the noise may be coming from the radio. Most coils need a condenser to filter the RF noise from interfering with the radio. If not that, then I have no clue. That voltage output seems very high. Are you sure it's not 48000?

Haha, yea thats actually a good point. If you happen to have an aftermarket radio and it is on with the volume low sometimes you can hear a high pitched whine through the speakers when you do things like that.

I think I did misinterpret . It is actually 48,000 volts not 148,000.
Nonetheless the noise is still present. The stereo , running two amps is not affected. It plays without any interference. The noise is there instantly upon start-up.

Jam77 did you notice a difference in throttle response? Just curious. Will keep looking for answers. Thanks.

Not to be a stickler here, but are you POSITIVE it isnt coming through the speakers? Now that i see you are running amps, it makes me think that is really the issue. I've seen that 100's of times, I've been installing stereos for about 10yrs. and its an extremely common problem. Actually put your ears to the speakers and listen to them with the radio on but volume at 0. rev the motor a little, does the whine go up in pitch with RPM's?

If you have done this already, completely disregard this.

The noise is there without the stereo even being on and it is definitely coming from the engine compartment..

The limited slip diff thing has no relation to my issue at all..
I have sent MSD tech a mail ...hopefully they can shed some light on this.
Thanks for the suggestions...

Hey Jason,
At least someone else is experiencing the same problem. What have you done to remedy it. Does your car run fine with the noise. Also do you notice an increase in throttle response. I have not heard back from MSD yet. Might have to give them a call. Will post their reply.

Just got a reply from MSD Tech ...He says, the noise is normal with the MSD coil. This is caused by the frequency
in which the MSD coil is operating at. His words exactly.
