!!!MAJOR CLUTCH PROBLEMS!!! PLZ HELP!!!!

OK i own a 88 GT and recently installed a stage 2 clutch from act and while doing so i also put in a lighter flywheel. As soon as i installed the new clutch my old cable started giving me trouble so i replaced it. The same day my new cable either slipped or stretched and it was doing the same thing again... ( cant get into reverse *grindage* and it is very stiff to shift gears also i get a rattle when i give it a little gas but not at an idle.) I replaced the cable again and this time i replaced the fork too and once again it worked fine for a day and then back to the same old shit.. This has cost me over 2 grand in parts and labour already and i cant afford to keep putting it in the shop.. anyone got a solution?!! PLZ HELP M!!

Try adjusting the cable. Try to pull the clutch up with your foot and listen for a click. If this doesn't work, put a little pressure on the clutch pedal with one hand then hold the quadrant with the other. While holding the quadrant pull up on the clutch pedal. Just go one click at a time and check the clutch between clicks to see if it will go into gear.

do you still have the stock plastic clutch quadrant?if you do that may be your problem right there.high mileage and stiff pressure plates speed up failure

I agree, sounds like it is time for an aluminum quadrant and firewall adjuster.

had the same problem...you need look up how to re-set the adjuster or else your going to keep streting the cable, i just bought an after market clutch cable that adjust by the bell-housing its nice cause you can set when the clutch starts to grab...

sometimes the throw out bearing, fork and input shaft can rattle in neutral. If the rattle stops when the clutch is pressed in, then it would be either the inputshaft ot throw out bearing.

sounds like u have an aluminum bearing retainer and its worn out too.. that will cause hard shifting and noise.
