I might purchase 5.0 Notchback, assistance plz.

Body is not too shabby on this notch and it runs 14's but im just curious. Apparently there is a built 302 in the car, but its from a truck. I dont know if replacing the rotating assembly makes it any different or what but will it make much difference if its a car or truck engine w/ a new rotating assembly? He wants 2500 for it, i can prolly talk him down to 2k or less.

Im not entirely sure what all the differences between an H.O. 5.0 and a non-H.O. 5.0 are, but I believe that the non-H.O. is not a roller setup. Other than that im not too sure. And the truck motor that is in there is not an H.O. if it is completely stock. Unless they changed the top end over.

Even so, if you can get it for 2k and its in nice shape and runs, go for it!

Are you planning on using this as a daily driver or are you going to mod it?

One big thing is to check for rust, definitely don't want to see big ol' rust spots on the body...

try and talk him down as much as possible. point out every little flaw, maybe bald tires, dings and dents, high mileage, interior problems etc etc..

if he really wants to sell the car he will bargain with ya!

If its in good shape, go for it. They are hard to come by in good shape for that price especially with a v-8 already. You will want to make sure it was always a v-8 and if not, that is fine as long as it has a v-8 tranny and rear end. You can always drive it around for a year while you take your time building you a monster motor for it, and upgrading the suspension. Not having a v-8 tranny and rear end doesn't necessarily mean don't buy it, cuz you can always baby it til you get the right ones. Just a matter of if you want to spend all that much.

The H.O. has a different firing order as well and the throttle body is facing the passenger side.

the ho has forged pistons where as the trucks dont.

Fuel rails mount differently on the fuel injected trucks, I looked into the mustang upper and lower swap onto my truck, theres ALOT of differences.
