Dang that's huge!

My local gas/welding supply store sells the Miller 140 with cart and a tank for $856. Not a bad deal. That's just there online price so they may do better considering the amount of business we bring to there store. My co-worker will be in tomorrow so I will talk to him more about his Miller 135.

Is it worth paying the extra to get the new Miller 140 with Auto Set? Or is it pretty easy to set up a machine yourself?

I'm not familiar with auto set so I can't comment on that, but it is fairly easy to set up a MIG machine. Do you have any welding experience? If not talk to your guys at the supply store. The guy at my local Airgas is a welding inspector and said he will teach me TIG for $20/hr.

Its been about 14 years since I took a welding class so I really have very little knowledge of the skill. I work with a couple pipeline welders and a few guys that weld at home. I hope to pump them for knowledge and some lessons. I will also ask at the local shop.

Some of the best welders I have seen are pipefitters. Good place to start.
