Heads question and overheating Question!!

Ok so i purchased my car back in April, now i find out that the heads are from an 87 5.0. are they the wrong ones or are they interchangeable? Also when i go open throttle my temp gauge rises pretty quickly i let off the throttle, temp, remains the same slowly goes down, but i stay at cruising speeds it fluctuates as well, i just replace my ect, radiator cap, thermostat. any ideas what could be wrong? i am leaking coolant slowly when cars off from timing cover gasket...no white smoke from tailpipes....could it be water pump, or blown head gasket?

I'm not a genius, but a thought popped into my head.

Are the 94 motors the exact same
As the 93? I mean internal wise, I know the foxes were forged right?

What I know for a fact is that 1987 was the first year of fuel injection for mustangs. Maybe they were meant to run differently? Just a thought.

1986 is the first year of fuel injection. Not 1987

Damn!!! I realized right after I posted that it could be 86. I knew it was one or the other. My apologies.

It's hard to say why your over heating. Did you make sure you didn't put the t- stat in up side down or put the wrong temp in. You could have a shitty gauge or you water pump is on it's way out. Did you bleed the air from your cooling system? Also do you still have that plastic damn under your front bumper ? Cuz that forces air up into your radiator. Or maybe your radiator is blocked? Who knows

no i made sure it was in the right way, its possible about the water pump, its still relatively new though, but it gets really hot really quick maybe thats it same with the blocked radiator. yes i bled the cooling system as well. flushed out everything and replaced with new coolant. no i dont have that plastic piece.

Your welcome. I doubt that's your only issue. But I'd still get that plastic piece any ways. I bet you could pick one up at the junk yard for less then 10 bucks
