I have a 306 heads and cam full bolt-ons and when I drive my car it's real sluggish and pops from the exhaust then when I get past 4 grand it's perfect so what can I do to fix this problem would a tune do it ?

check your codes and fuel pressure. your fuel pressure should be around 39 psi with the vacuum line disconected from the fuel pressure reg.

run codes, check timing, test coil, check o2 sensors. I had the same problem. turned out to be timing being off. sometimes a bad coil can do that. once it heat's up, the circuit opens.... low rpms arent needing as much spark. high rpms, youll see-- try it out

It's possible that your balancer has spun And your timing is not reading correct. What codes showed up. Did you check yet?

I'm gonna change out my 02 sensor as well cause when I first put the motor in with the cam I have it was dumping alot of fuel and kept fouling out the spark plugs I went thru two sets so I didn't the maf conversion so I'm guessing all that fuel that was coming out of my pipe could have messed up my 02 sensors

This happened when my maf was going bad. Unplug it, and go for a quick drive and see what it does. It really might be your maf, even if it's new, the wire could have been touched and messed it up.

Okay wow I have the same exact problem...same engine also, 306 with just about every bolt on. When my car is cold it runs like shit- pops, stutters, back fires...but once my check engine light kicks on it runs like a champ...more then one person suggested cleaning the MAF, I decided to just replace it with the BBK 76mm CAI calibrated MAF...still same issues tho :/ what do you guys think?

If the o2 sensors were making your car run lean or rich, a code should be showing. Make sure that your check engine light is not burnt out, cuz you should have some codes, even if code 11 pops up wich means all system pass

a couple other things you could check is check the tps make sure it has a nice sweep on a volt meter and u can check the voltage on the maf to make sure it has a clean sweep also and if you have a fuel pressure gauge hook it up and try to put it so you can see it or just take the hood off and mount it and go out and get on it under a load and make sure your fuel pressure isn't dropping off under the high loads

yup ended up being the coil. I replaced the intire intake set-up and installed a hole new ignition system. But still have a very slight miss...can't figure it out to save my life.
