well some engines have been abused and/or neglected...you might find something else needing to be replaced once you get it appart...thats all i can think of how engines are different.

you can take 2 hand guns made by the same company with the same specs and each one will strike the bulliet in a diff spot. granted it will prob not affect what he is doing. but sometimes that thousands of an inch matters.

Thats why you can squeeze a little more hp out of a car with a chip or a tweecer and things like that. The factory builds the cars within certain tolerances and sets a standard tune to accomodate all of them. Its basically like how they allow a certain amt of fly wings per gallon of ice cream. Not every car that comes out of the factory makes the exact same power. Granted, we are talking about very small differences here though.

And otherwise this is a completly usless post that has nothing to do with the original question........ and we are all now dumber because of it. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

your right I did just hear a lot of if someone who owned the car before him rebuilt the engine and milled the block shit could hit the fan quick. your right that post was pointless slap it on there and fire it up.

Maybe I was a little fuzzy on my post dr.gonzo, I was saying that I agree with you. And I was talking about my post as being the usless post that has nothing to do with the original question.....as does this one.

Basically what I was getting at is that the tolerance difference that the factory leaves can actually make one mustang outperform or outlast another exact same mustang. Thats why the "tune" from the factory can be improved upon because they set it on the safe side to make sure the ones made on the low side of the tolerance will live longer.

I would say anytime you are going to go this far into the engine, you might as well pull it. It isn't that much work and it is a lot easier to work on the engine while it is on a stand that in the car. you can install the kit with the engine out and put the whole assembly back in.

Things to think about, you are already going to have the accessories off, radiator drained, water pump gone (for the cam), exhaust and intake off. If you are doing the clutch (which you should) you'll have the tranny off. At that point it is almost easy to pluck the block and at lease give it a once over with some new bearings, rings, seals and gaskets. you'll be glad you did.
