no stock 5.0 headers wont fit the p heads u would have to get a set of gt40p headers for ur stang do a google search I have seen a lot running the frpp headers 1979-93 Mustang Ford Racing Stainless Steel Shorty Headers for GT40p Heads, M-9430-P50 at LRS - Same Day Shipping!
you should be able to find a used pair for cheap though |

The P's are different if a few more ways than that. The chambers are smaller, shaped different, and the spark plug was located more in the center. Which is why a lot of people run into header issues, because the angle of the spark plug will aim almost directly at the next cylinders primary tube on certain headers. The exhaust valves were smaller on the P's too, but they still outflow the regular GT-40 heads. Which I'm sure is due to port shape being different like you mention, but I've never compared or seen a comparison of the actual shape done so I can't verify that.

^ true but to be able to run them on the car I think the only thing he would have to do is get a different set of headers to compensate for the spark plugs I used to have on 01 explorer with a 5.0 and man it was so nice changing the plugs on that thing with the way the stock headers were going right through the fender
