E7s vs. Gt40s

I've just started experiencing rocker ticking out my E7 heads. i took the valve covers off and noticed that some of my workers were loose. now do i just have to set them at TDC and re torque them or do i need new ones. i was also thinking on just replacing the heads with Gt40 heads if i needed to replace the rockers. i am currently running the Gt40 upper and lower on the E7 with a B-Cam, and I'm seeing alot that i won't get the best out my car until i run some better heads but that was going to be last because money was tight. but I'm just wondering do they need replaced or just retightened, and/or should i get the Gt40 heads to go with the cam and intakes.?

i say just go with the heads since you already have the intake and cam..the e7 heads are so garbage, from what ive heard..the gt40 heads are supposed to be a great upgrade from e7s..and heard the gt40 heads, and gt40 intake with a b-cam is a pretty good combo

yeah im pretty sure, i actually had everything to do my build and had a crazy idea to sell my car so sold everything, but decided now to keep the car lol..but im 95% sure you just bolt them right on..just get all new gaskets and everything...if your changing your heads, may want to think about changing your water pump or timing chain if they havnt been changed before

idk thats what my dad told me..i guess if they are original or have alot of miles on them, itd be best to change them while you are already down there changing the heads..just my two cents..so you dont have to do it later if they go out

exactly what mustangmaniac95 said. since you're down there, and is accessible to it, it would be a good idea to change them. less headaches in the future

the rockers being loose would be a bad lifter wouldnt it?

idk thats why i asked because on youtube alot of people said it was they rockers, some said lifters, and some said broken push rods. but all the noises would sound the same. i pushed down on the push rods and they had no play in them idk if me pushing down on them is enough force to tell whether the lifters are bad or push rods

When you have the valve cover off turn the motor over and look at your rockers and how far they are traveling look for ones that are not moving as far as the others that would be a collopsed lifter

only if you are going to up the cam for more lift as per rockers u could go with some stock cobra which are 1.72 i believe and as for the push rod just pull them all out and make sure that they are all straight and none are bent

I think that stock e7 springs should be enof for a b 303 cam I would find a set of gt40 heads though and if you can find the stock cobra with the factory roller rockers those are 1.72 u would feel a pretty good difference

I'm really not sure on that. I ain't know it was another style of Gt40 heads until I got on here and did the research. All I know is that I seen the upper and lower and some heads were still on the engine and it was a explorer so I figured Gt40 heads lol
