UPR maximum rear coilover ride height issues.

So, I recently purchased the upr rear maximum coilver kit, for the strange shocks, with a 10-125 lb spring, and now my rear ride height is garbage. At the lowest setting my rear tires are about 4 inches from the wheel well. Now the car pretty much sits higher from stock. I have the front kit and they are flawless. Has anyone had these issues with this kit?? Also, I called upr last Friday gave them part # and pics of my setup. They haven't responded wwith an answer yet. If this iis a common occurance with their rear coilover kit, does anyone have any recommendations for another rear setup.

I'm running 17 deepdish in the rear , with a nitto nt05 315/35 tire

Thanks - ken

Yep, thats normal with the UPR coilovers. I have foxbody shocks on my new edge and it bumped up the height about an inch from the eibach pro kit springs I had in there previously.
Maybe try shorter springs? Like 8-125# springs? If that doesn't work, throw your old coil springs back in.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of throwing in the shorter springs. I'm pretty pissed at UPR as well. They have been dicking me around for almost a week. They would not give me straight answer.

UPR has always been good to me. Do A LOT of research on any modification before you buy them. It pays off in the long run. Ask questions on here, any questions you might have some one probably has the answer here.

Have you drove the car like that? I'm just wondering if your tires are rubbing the coils of the spring and stopping the car from going down past a certain point. If it rolls fine then that's obviously not the issue, but just a thought.. I've got 17" 275's on my car and I definitely don't have any room for a coil spring on the outside of my shock as it is.

thanks

4.6DreameR : Thanks for all the info.. I did research in other forums but not in this one. I have to admit I should be using these forums more for research and ask more questions. UPR were allways great to me in the past as well. I talked to them today and they told me that they were really bust with the SEMA show but they would get back to me. It just seems like if the adjuster tube was longer my car would sit mint. Why is it that they sit so high??

I am going to be busting out my welder and making my own brackets to make it fit lower. These build's are tough without the forums. Ill post some pics

fogged306: yes.. There is no rubbing at all. I used northracecar's axles, rolled my inner fenders, and beat my inner fender sharp edges. (not to bad, just the sharp edges). I also used a a small wheel spacer (can't remember the size) but everything fits mint and the wheels don't stick past the well.. Ill post pic's. What axles are you running?

Cool

Those pictures you posted, are those pictures of the ride height before or after the coil over install?

No, i took those photos after I removed the rear springs when I was trying to figure everything out. I had a jack under my rear end. I wish it was my ride height.. lol. .. but that's the height I'm going for.

Yep, I was surprised too. If I wouldn't have had foxbody shocks I would've immediately ditched the CO's and sent them back.

foxbody shocks/struts are around an inch shorter overall than sn95/new edge ones.
I doubt they make any shorter than that.
