my 92 5.0 fuel gauge is inop??update


i pulled the dash today and when i unplugged the small green circuit board the fuel gauge went to above full, does this mean the circuit board is bad or the sending unit?


i just bought a 92 lx convertible and the only thing doesn't work is the fuel gauge. i have grounded all the wires in the 4 wire plug that operates the fuel pump. the only one that shows power is the fule pump wire. it goes bright red on a test light while the relay is ingauged and then goes dim until the oil pressure switch turns it back on. where the heck do i go next in trying to fix my problem. i even called ford dealer and the tech said to ground across the 2 smaller wires that they operate the gauge and sender. gauge stays on empty.
HELP!!!

1990-93 Mustang Instrument Voltage Regulator by Ford at LRS - Same Day Shipping!


this part is what cause my fuel gauge to read empty all the time. it was only on 1990-1993 mustangs. its located on the back of the gauge cluster. its the voltage regulator and anti slosh for the fuel gauge. Its real easy to replace, it just plugs right in.

Mine was pinned to full i took it to a shop n they pulld the gauge n hooked up a loose wire for 80 bucks it started reading after that.... Check the gauge then if that turns up nothin get that regulator 50 bucks on ebay or 100 something at lrs either way the regulator is first part to replace wish i wouldve started there

update on progress on fuel gauge problem

its not a garranty that this circuit board is your issue. You should still check the wireing, and fuel sending unit. but i wanted to mention that circuit board because most people forget about that part. since it was only in 1990-1993 mustangs. it sucks that they cost over a 100 bucks cuz 6 months ago they were only 75 bucks. you might be able to find them used on ebay, or the junk yard. but that one of those items i like to buy new, but thats just me
