will certain upgrades net me more cash when i sell?

Planning on selling my 95 and getting a 05+. My Interior is perfect, motor is new and modded nicely, suspension is all new and upgraded, tranny is new, rear is new. Way more invested than ill get out of it. It needs paint and would be very, very clean.

Question is I had planned on getting a cervini cowl hood, and new tail lights horizontal like stock, painted, and new rims (drop the Chrome cobra rims). But it only NEEDS paint. Will. Fowl hood and nicer rims net me more money?

What do u guys think my ride is worth? Roughly?

It may get your more money, but not as much as youll put into it.

When you start changing things to your own personal tastes, then you may turn off a potenchel buyer.

for example i love cowl hoods on fox bodys, but there are plenty of people on this forum that think there ugly and the stock hood is the best looking.

you could go and put some cobra rims on, and the person that buys it from you, may rip those things right off and put to weld wheels on.(who knows)....its a crap shoot, some people will love the modds you did and some will hate it. But one good thing about a car being left stock...is, its like working on a blank canvas, it lets some one else customize it to there taste

+1 on that I got more money when I sold my 91 Gt than I was with all my bolt on parts.

Mods add little to nothing. A hood, gears etc.. are all replacements for something that was already on the car. People expect the car to have the parts it needs. Take gears for example. A car with 3.73 gears MIGHT get a few more dollars than one with 2.73 gears. It doesn't matter that you spent $500 for the 3.73 install and put 2 bottles of royal purple in there. The cost to buy and install 2.73 gears compared to 3.73 is the same. The resale value is roughly the same.

I fully understand that i wont come close to getting out of it what i have in it..

What about paint? It needs it bad. Should i get a cheap, $500 paint job or a decent $1,500 job...will Spending more get me more when im taking it back to factory color?

I just hate to hang onto it much longer because i know i will end up spending more money i could be spending on something i plan on keeping a while..

What do you guys think a good starting price would be after its painted? I have every receipt to every part ive put on it. $12,000 in receipts...

No idea on a starting price and you'd probably be offended at my guess.
SN's are all over the place in price but usually lower than an equally modded fox. Throw it up on CL for what you think it is worth and either wait it out or lower your price. You will only get what someone is willing to pay for it and you won't know until that person comes along. A bunch of people standing around talking about the price and "worth" is useless until someone is willing to hand over the cold hard cash.

If the car can be test driven, doesn't sputter or overheat, and no oil or water spewing all over the place, I wouldn't put another dime into it. It sounds like you are too attached to this project and don't want to get rid of it or think you can make more money by still putting more money into it. Good luck

I think im going to list it at 7k and hope for close to 6K..

I am attached to this project, and love the SN95's, but my wife hates it. She either likes old school, or 05+. I like those also, and want something she will enjoy riding around in etc. The car is in perfect condition except for paint. Just about everything else is new/upgraded.

I half way thought about finding an 66-69 coupe roller and moving alot of my parts over to it and selling just the shell of my 95...who freggin knows..i just want something that WE enjoy, and not just I..

I wouldn't paint it, if you throw a cheap paint job on it, people are going to assume it has been wrecked, and not know how bad, even with a good paint job people are going to think that and you are going to put way more into the paint than you will get back from having it painted will not be worth what it cost you. Basically saying you may get 500 bucks more from it having good paint, but it will cost you about 1500-2000, and also may make them think its been in a bad accident, I always stay away from cars that have been painted, at ALL, just because you never know the REAL reason it was painted, yeah sure it could be cause you wanted a custom color, or the paint was just in bad shape, but as a buyer they think painted = wrecked

When I was looking I came across a lot of cars that people modded and wanted extra cash for. Most of the mods were things I planned on changing out. If I told you, to take off the parts I was going to change and lower the price accordingly, what would you think?

I also asked why things like the transmission was replaced(how bad was it abused) and why the car wasn't level(how hard was the car launched) does it need a cowl hood and why.

When I buy something that's been altered, even parts I like I still view as used and thus worth a lot less.

The only way I could see paying for a lot of upgrades is if they put the car in a whole new class, everything was custom-built to my liking and looked pristine.

And on a lot of foxes, 1/2 of the stuff added on was mismatched and done half assed. I like the line, "oh, that works but first you have to....."
