Are you using the car for Drag racing or Auto cross, or just the street? The TKO600 is rated at 600ft lbs but I have seen them live behind 700+ beasts. They are pretty tough. The T56 is nice for the 6 speed. I have one of these in my car and love it. Great for cruising. Downside would be the weight/ size. It it a beast. But these will hold some unreal power as well. I have seen 9 second Cobras with T56 trannies. Also need to remember you are going to need a pretty serious clutch to handle 600+ ft lbs of torque. I would go with a dual disc to save your leg muscles. Hope this helps..

+1 to what Matt said; what're your goals and intent with the car?

If you're not drag racing, you can get away with a tranny rated for less torque as you're not going to be shock-loading it like you do with a drag launch. That means a lighter transmission, which makes for more power getting to the ground.

I'm running a bone stock, small input/output toploader 4 speed. Good enough to live behind many 1.51 60' launches, to some low 11 passes. Now I have a PA Supercomp C4, with the pro tbrake upgrade, sitting in the floor, waiting for me to get off my ass and install it.

I had a t5 out of an 01 v6 pushing 414hp and 560tq that lasted half a summer before I busted the counter shaft bar I ended up going through 3 of them that year will have to say held up pretty good for only being rated at 300hp lol

Never thought about autocross...but hey...am now...
Street and road for the most. I'm looking for a irs(that doesn't cost thousands) to put in. If my luck continues its live axle so some strip.

I've driven a lot of different vehicles and raced a lot of different vehicles(street raced). I would like to build a nice corner carver that isn't a 'all out race car'.

Something to zoom up to aspen Colorado, then through Denver to...somewhere...
Last time I went through that part of the rockies, I thought it looked like serious fun.

5 or a 6 speed would be the only option IMO. I wouldn't want an auto to run through corners with, and a 4 speed has no overdrive so you will lose mileage on the highways with it. Really depends on how much power you're going to put through it. If you can get away with it, a g-force or astro gear set and a stock case may be all you need.

The only time my leg muscle got worked hard from shifting was with a big truck I double clutched. Never though about it on a vehicle of average size...never heard of it either...

MY GOSH MATT! AREN'T YOU JUST FULL OF THINGS I HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF!

Are the gforce and astro kits as mannered as the tko? From what I've read they sound...louder?

I'm fairly set on a 5speed. It's what I know...

Any how, I was just curious what people were running. My guesstimate put me around 500 fwhp blown and over 600 with nos.

...if I scrap my current build and sell what I can't use on my new idea
I could be 700 ish with no boost or nos...(when I explained my thoughts to my mom she laughed at me )

Lol, when you put your C4 in, just make the z-bar into a panhard and you'll be taking corners with the best of them.

If you're thinking a car for the twisties, you can WAY dial down that power, and nitrous is going to be useless.

Also, IRS vs SRA is largely irrelevant... there're guys running 8s and 9s on the IRS, and there's guys that win AI/AIX races on live-axles. Basically just stick to what you've got, building either costs about the same.

I have plans for that Z bar. They involve a large going away party, and a smelting pot.
