Recommended Mods -Need Advice

Hey guys, I've had my 95 Mustang GT for about 5 years now. I bought it off one of my dads friends who buys accidented cars rebuilds them and sells them. I have NO idea what mods have been done on my car except for the gears. I am afraid to bring it to these performance shops because they might recommend shit I don't need resulting in me wasting money. On the other hand if I never bring it anywhere I'll never get the power I want out of my car.

So here is my question. Assuming my car is mostly stock (even though some minor mods may have been conducted), what mods should I start with that will result in HP/Torque gain? I'm willing to invest 5 gs performance wise on my car for now.

Thanks

You need to decide what your goal is before starting any modification project.

Are you looking for street/strip, street driving only, strip only??

A head, cam, and intake package is a nice way to get started.
Also you could consider power adders such as nitrous, a blower, or turbo kit.

Get the suspension done, and either go with a H/C/I or a poweradder such as a blower.

+1 on the suspension, you can make all the power in the world but if you cant put it to the ground, its usless.

Then I'd get a twin screw blower to provide plently of pavement shredding torque.

$2200 H/C/I Trick Flow. Auto- trans-go shift kit, stick-short throw shifter. Gears- 3.55's or 3.73's. Cold air intake (fender). Upper and lower control arms- non adjustable are fine for a street car. Shocks. Headers and a tune. My mission here is done. Please hold your applause until the end of the questions. Any money left, upgrade your clutch or get a 2000-2500 stall converter. Next would be an upgraded TB, MAF, Injectors and fuel pump. Then save for a 2500 buck Vortech. Like a woman at Wal-Mart, I can spend some money.

since it is an auto transmission I would get 4.10 gears(also 3.73 is good), suspension, new heads (afr, twisted wedge, edelbrock), headers + X or H pipe, and a cam. then if you still have some cash left new upper and lower intake, throttle body and stall converter with shift kit.
