89 fox AOD gear options
Ok i'm building a 89 4cyl fox w/302. I've already pulled the motor and have a 92 5.0 mustang motor ready to swap in w/gt40p heads w/aftermarket valve springs. The rest of the motor is stock. Since the 4cyl car was a auto i'm going to be using a AOD w/a 2500stall. My next question is as follows, I have a 8.8 rear end w/mini spool and 4:56 gears. The car is going to be running a 28in tall tire out back. I know a lot of people say dont fear the gear but also alot of people say it wont rev very high with stock parts. (true) The car will be used in town (never long trips on hwy) and ran at the 1/4 mile. My fear is that the AOD will be trying to go into OD by the end of the track. Could i get away with them or will it not work at the track?
I also have a 96 gt rear end w/stock gears if all else fails.

I'm just going to run it and see what it does. The motor might be out of breath by the end of the track 6200rpm or so. If it gets too high i guess i'll just let it go into OD and not give it WOT. Then change the gears for 410's or 355's. I do want to end up turbo'd sometime.
